Carex brunnea ‘Variegata’, variegated Japanese sedge, is an evergreen perennial grass-like plant with a clumping, tufted growth habit. It is a very hardy, easy care plant. It grows to around 60cms high and 50 cms wide. It has narrow arching leaves that are green, finely striped with silver.
Grow Carex plants in any fertile, moist, well drained soil in sun or semi shade. Avoid positions that are prone to extremes of wet or dry. Carex requires little maintenance once established. Old growth can be combed out with your fingers in winter to make way for fresh growth in spring.
