Description. ‘Carré Rouge’ is a selection of Pépinières La Forêt (Nantes), found in mother-plants of ‘Red Robin’. The variety is characterized by its compact habit, its smaller and more pointed leaves, and especially its young shoots and leaves blood red colored, very bright.

Photinias grow best in fertile, humus-rich soil that is moist but well drained. They are tolerant of most soil types – even clay, as long as you add plenty of well-rotted garden compost or manure before planting.
