What are dahlias known for?
Image result for Dahlia description
One of the most beloved summer flowers, dahlias are often seen at farmer’s markets, flower competitions, and weddings—especially dinner plate varieties that can grow to be as large as your head. They’re even the National Garden Bureau’s flower of the year for 2019!
When should dahlias be cut back?
Cut back dahlias in late fall – October and November, however don’t cut them back immediately. ‘Leave the stems to go black from the first frost for approximately a two weeks to allow the sugars to go back down the stems to feed the tuber.
