Often grown as a biennial or short lived perennial, Verbascum phlomoides ‘Banana Custard’ is a dramatic plant for the back of the border. Tall yellow flower spikes rise above low rosettes of grey-green foliage from June to August. Plant Mullein into well drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Verbascum will thrive on poor, gravelly soils. Established Verbascum plants require little maintenance. Deadhead faded flower spikes to encourage more verbascum flowers to be produced.
